You don’t get along with your coach? How to approach him and improve your relationship

Organized sport played at all levels involves a number of different personalities and belief systems, all of which come together to form a team led by a designated authoritative figure, such as a coach.

For those reasons, it is only natural for one or more players in the team not to get along with the coach and, in the unfortunate event that that player is you, the best you can do to better the situation is to just try and improve your relationship with your coach.
In no way is it suggested that it will be easy, but the universal secret to improving the relationship you have with your coach resides in showing him that you are on his side and want to do well for the team.

Coaches often just want players to follow their instructions and this is because they have a vision for the team and that vision is driven by their unique philosophy and approach to the game.
Naturally, it gets a little bit trickier when the coach requires a bit of initiative from you as a player, for example they might want to see if you have enough courage to deviate from the norm and take responsibility.
When all else fails, simply go up to the coach in your personal capacity and ask them if there is anything you can do on your own time to improve in any areas of your game where you’re lacking.
This will probably improve your relationship instantly, but before taking this step, simply showing a desire to work hard for the team will open the door to a better relationship with your coach.
This can be done via the simple things, like arriving first for practice and leaving last.
