Language: communication is very essential and it may be difficult for you to live in the new country if you can’t afford even the simplest form of communication. Find out the language being used by residents of the foreign country you are about to move to and learn the basics of the language. Plan to enroll for the language immediately you move to the country.

Documentation: every country has its own requirements in terms of documentations of foreigners planning to stay in the country. Find out the mandatory documents such as special visas and work permits so that you can get them before moving to the new country.

Safety: crime is everywhere and it is important to find out the level of crime in the area you are moving to. This will guide you on what time of the night to be out, whether to walk around with jewelry or not, etc.

Technology: nearly everything depends on technology nowadays and therefore you should ensure that you are technologically armed. Technology will help you get in touch with your friends back at home and continue with your life as normal. Find out on how you will access the internet and be able to use such applications as Skype, language translators, GPS, currency converter, internet calling apps, etc.

Taxes: since you will be living in a foreign country and making money, you will be required to pay taxes. Find out about taxes, insurance and other bills, and how they are paid so that you prepare in advance.
